Grand Lodge Kitchen Training Available

In an effort to ensure that the equipment in the Grand Lodge is used correctly and according to various health regulations, we have created the Grubmaster program. It is not our goal to teach you how to cook but to acquaint you with the proper use, maintenance, and cleaning of the kitchen and dining hall. All groups using the kitchen facilities will be required to have at least one individual on their cook crew that has been through the Council equipment training and has a current ServeSafe certification. A group could also have one person with the equipment training and another person with the ServeSafe certification.

To date, 20 people have taken the training thus far. We need many more across the council to attend to make the facility more usable for everyone. It is the vision of the council to have everyone who has been or wants to be on a kitchen crew trained by the end of 2010.

ServeSafe training

There are only about 8 of volunteers within the council that are ServeSafe qualified. Right now, Golden Corral has offered to provide the training, free of charge, at their headquarters building in Raleigh. They only offer it during the weekdays and it is an 8 to 9 hour session. The next scheduled session will be on April 8, 2010.
